Renowned online gambling operator William Hill published today an extensive report about the company's performance during 2011. According to the published document, William Hill performed well, reaching most of its goals for the year.

The report revealed that the performance of the company is in line with the market expectations and the operating profit represents a total sum of approximately £274 million. This number makes William Hill one of the biggest UK and global gambling ventures.

It was also revealed that the annual online gambling revenue increased with a considerable 28% in 2011 compared to the company's performance in this domain in 2010. 2011 was also the second consecutive year the annual net revenue reported an increase of over 20%. The biggest revenue increase was registered in the company's sports betting branch which was 36%.

Another department of the company that dramatically increased in 2011 was mobile betting that recorded an increase of approximately 500% compared to the previous year. This is attributed to the increasingly huge popularity of smartphones and other mobile devices.

Casino and bingo also accounted for a considerable increase, but poker revenue, on the other hand experienced a slight decrease over the course of 2011. Besides the online branch of the company, the land-based sports betting department also managed to produce a considerable increase compared to 2010.

William Hill CEO Ralph Topping commented the following in a press release:

"This is a very positive performance, particularly in a year without a significant international football tournament and with a £9 million increase in VAT payments as a result of the rate change."

He further went to explain that he and his company expected to face a considerable consumer backdrop in 2011, but despite this, the company managed to perform exceptionally well ending the year with living up to the market expectations. He closed his statement that in 2012 and in future years his company will intend to expand its services beyond the UK.

William Hill is one of the biggest online sportsbooks and online casinos. The venture has a huge presence in the United Kingdom but is also a well-known brand in various other European countries.
