Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars Cease Providing US Services
Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars Cease Providing US Services
April 16th, 2011
The scandal arose after it was made public that major companies like Full Tilt, PokerStars, Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet continued to ignore US legislation and provided illegal online gambling services in the States.
The domains of these companies have already been seized, and the FBI together with the Interpol searches for the people involved not living in the USA. Possible seizing of assets will most likely follow as well.
A day after the event, PokerStars gave the following statement:
"As you may have heard, we have had to suspend real money poker services to people based in the U.S. due to legal developments there. The developments are confined to the U.S. and do not have any impact on your ability to continue using our services. Please be assured player balances are safe. There is no cause for concern. For all customers outside the U.S. it is business as usual."
The second site pulling out from the USA, Full Tilt Poker explained the following:
"Full Tilt Poker is saddened by today's charges against its CEO Raymond Bitar and offers its full support to Mr. Bitar and Nelson Burtnick"
"Online poker is a game of skill enjoyed by tens of millions of people in the United States and across the world. And, Full Tilt Poker remains as committed as ever to preserving the rights of those players to play the game they love online."
Based on these events, OnlineCasinoAdvice.com decided only to review and recommend poker rooms and casinos that do not provide services in the USA. We are committed to the law, and since online gambling is not tolerated in the USA, we will refrain from promoting sites operating in the States.
The two other ventures involved, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker have not yet announced they would stop their services in the USA. Therefore, we have removed them from our site list and ceased all forms of collaboration with them until they choose to comply with US laws.
