Today the United Kingdom based betting and casino company 32Red has won a major legal battle against online gambling giant William Hill. A UK court dismissed William Hill's appeal of a previous trial regarding a trademark infringement case.

Three years ago the UK based company named 32Red sued renowned online casino and sports betting operator William Hill regarding the infringement of its trademarks "32Red" and "32". At that time William Hill had just launched its 32Vegas business that closely resembled 32Red's brand.

In October last year a UK court ruled that William Hill did indeed infringe 32Red's trademark, but shortly after the verdict was announced the famous UK bookmaker appealed the decision. Unfortunately for William Hill, the appeal was rejected by another UK judge shortly after.

This week the Court of Appeals described the case as a "full-scale, wide-ranging attack [by William Hill] on the Judge's analysis and conclusions on virtually every aspect of his judgment." The court also ruled that William Hill has to support the costs of the appeal which are GBP 70,000 which have to be paid within 14 days.

It was also decided that early next year a further High Court hearing will be scheduled that will aim to determine the damages caused to 32Red by William Hill due to the trademark infringement.

32Red CEO Ed Ware commented the following:

"We are delighted that the Court of Appeal has categorically dismissed William Hill's appeal. The success of our cross-appeal is also very satisfying. Quite correctly, the Court of Appeal's judgment also supported the view that taking advantage of a well-known brand such as 32Red is not acceptable."

32Red is a renowned UK-based online casino operator that offers an extensive range of online casino products as well as poker and mobile gambling solutions. William Hill is the United Kingdom's biggest online sports betting and casino brands.
