Craps Etiquette

If you're playing craps in a land-based craps casino, then you should be aware that there is a set of rules and etiquette in place that you must always follow when playing.

It's extremely important you know and understand these things, because if not, you might risk getting banned from the casino or disqualified from a table.

Read the article below and find out everything about craps etiquette. If you stick to the things described here, you will have no problems whatsoever when you play craps.

Craps Etiquette

Do not throw the dice with two hands.

The correct way of throwing the dice is with one hand only. You should always hit the opposite side of the table, as well. If you fail to comply, your roll will get annulled, and it's likely you will be disqualified from the game.

Never throw your chips on the table.

When placing a bet, you should always calmly put your chips on the table and never throw them. You may not get banned if you do this, but it's really impolite, and the other players and the casino staff will be offended by this.

Do not play with the dice before throwing it.

Some people usually perform certain rituals with the dice in their hands, but to be honest, this is extremely annoying and will make you a disliked person if you do this. Likewise, you won't get banned, but it can happen that fellow players will angrily shout at you to hurry up.

Always throw the dice to a clean area of the table.

You should make sure not to throw the dice in areas where chips are positioned or into the dealers' working area. This can considerably slow down the game which only comes as an expense to you. Always try to throw the dice along the center of the table.

Do not conceal the dice from the other players.

When you are in the role of the shooter never put the dice into your pockets, and always keep your hands and the dice visible. If you, even if accidentally, conceal the dice, you might be suspected of cheating and banned from the craps table.

Always place bets in a timely manner.

While technically you can bet whenever you want, craps dealers will hate it when you place a bet after the shooter already received the dice. Doing this will seriously hinder the work of dealers and possibly also delay the game a lot. If you've missed a betting round, then wait for a new one to begin.

Never ever extinguish your cigarettes on the craps table.

This is probably one of the most offensive things one can do at a craps table, because doing this might potentially leave an irreparable damage to the table. Doing this might get you banned in seconds. Also, never put your beverages or drinks on the table.

Be calm, and don't complain.

Craps is a loud game with people usually shouting all the time, but no one likes people who constantly complain about everything. Nothing can influence the results of a throw of a dice, therefore, there is absolutely no reason for you to blame anyone if you've lost.

After the shooter establishes the point number, never say "seven" out loud.

Yes, this is just a superstition, since there is absolutely no way to influence the results of a throw. Actually no one believes that if someone mentions "7" it will bring bad luck, but this is just such an old and common practice in craps, that people will find it very offending if you spell out "seven".

Tip the Dealers.

This is a common practice in craps and is extremely offensive if you leave it out. Surprisingly craps dealer salaries are very low, but the extra money they earn from tips compensates for this. When you're done playing and are about to leave the table, don't forget to tip some cash over to the dealers.

Online Craps Etiquette

Well, actually there is no online craps etiquette, since you won't be playing at a real casino and at an actual table. But in this case you have to remember some things, as well. When it's your turn to shoot, never wait too long with the pressing of the "play" button. Also, if the online casino you're playing at has a chat room, then always be polite with your partners.

Just remember the things described above and you won't have any problems when playing this fascinating and popular casino game.
