One of these blackjack strategies is called blackjack card counting. Contrary to popular belief it's not hard at all to understand how it works, but it still requires a lot of practice if you which to actively use it to win. Read this article and learn how to count blackjack cards even today.

What is Blackjack Card Counting?

Blackjack card counting is a technique that analyses the cards being dealt in a game, and based on their value predicts the value of the cards still remaining in the deck. Obviously you won't be able to predict exactly which card will come, but knowing that most cards remaining in the deck are low valued or high valued cards can help you considerably.

There are also several card counting methods available, some are simple, some a bit complicated. Read below to find out more about these options.

Remember: Blackjack card counting is mostly effective in real casinos because you have a better overview of the table and the cards being dealt. But using this strategy online is also possible but is a bit more difficult.

Blackjack Hi-Lo Card Counting Technique

This is the simplest form of blackjack card counting, but despite this, it's still highly effective. Master this method and only then advance to more complicated card counting techniques because the Hi-Lo method is the base for all other options.

The Hi-Lo blackjack card counting technique splits a deck of cards into three categories and adds a numerical value to each card in a category. Read below:

Cards 2 to 6 = +1
Cards 7 to 9 = 0
Cards 10 to A = -1

To use this method, you must watch the cards being dealt in a game of blackjack. You have to be extremely quick and add up the value of each card that was placed on the blackjack table. If the total value of the cards halfway through the game is a positive number, it means that there are still a lot of high cards left in the deck. This should mean that you have better winning chances than the dealer.

If the value of the cards on the table is a low or a negative number, then the dealer is the one with the better winning chances. Now, based on these predictions you can better decide when to accept more cards and when to stand.

Uston SS Card Counting Technique

This blackjack card counting technique is more advanced, offers even greater winning chances, but is a bit harder to learn. It works the same way as the Hi-Lo system, but it has 6 categories instead of just three. These are the following:

Cards 2, 4, 6 = 2
Card 5 = 3
Card 7 = 1
Card 8 = 0
Card 9 = -1
Cards 10 to A = -2

The same rules apply here, as well. If halfway through a game the value of the cards on the table is positive, you have better winning chances and should risk and accept more cards, but if the value is negative, then the dealer is the favorite to win.

Advice: The only thing what's difficult about blackjack card counting is to memorize the values described above, but as soon this is done, you're almost ready to use these techniques in action.

There are other techniques available, but these two are the ones that are widely popular and offer the best winning probabilities. In order for you to properly learn to use them, you must practice a lot, since a blackjack game is usually extremely fast, and you may lose track quickly if you don't have experience.
